Michael Jackson's Fans around the world are mourning

Michael Jackson was due to make his triumphant return to the stage in London next month — but instead his sudden death has left millions of fans feeling they’ve lost a lifelong friend. The dramatic death of the brilliant singer seemed to obscure his recent controversies and kindle warmer memories of Jackson the child star and Jackson the show-stopping, moonwalking headliner. Word of Michael Jackson’s death jolted nearly everyone, from a young man in Colombia who was named after the King of Pop, to Malaysians who named a soy drink for him, to a generation of people around the world who have tried, in vain, to moonwalk. “It’s horrible news, so unexpected,” the Italian actress Sophia Loren told The Associated Press by telephone. “The world has lost an icon and music has lost treasures. He wrote songs that generations of yesterday, today and tomorrow will all keep on singing. What he wrote was amazing.” Loren and her children had been frequent visitors to Jackson at his Neverland ranch in California, developing an enduring friendship. “I hope that Michael will find that peace that maybe he did not have in the last 15 years.” In London, shocked fans gathered at the Lyric Theatre, where a live show based on Jackson’s record-selling album “Thriller” is being performed, and waited for news about refunds for some 750,000 tickets to his sold-out, 50-night run.

A spokeswoman for AEG Live — the promoters for the London concerts — declined to say how ticket refunds would be handled. She spoke on condition of anonymity, saying she was not authorized to speak to the media.
There were poignant memories of his final public appearance when he came to London for a March news conference to announce his “This is it” concerts, which he said would mark his farewell to the London stage. A candlelight vigil at London’s Trafalgar Square was planned to honor the singer. Former South African President Nelson Mandela issued a message through his foundation saying Jackson’s loss would be felt worldwide. Michael Jackson sang at a birthday concert for Mandela in 1998. In 1999, according to local media reports at the time, he lunched with Mandela at a small gathering at which the South African anti-apartheid leader celebrated both his81st birthday and his and wife Graca Machel’s first wedding anniversary. The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, UNESCO and the Red Cross were given proceeds from a huge benefit concert in Germany in 1999 that featured Jackson and other international stars. Former Beatle Paul McCartney, who recorded with Jackson before they had a falling out over ownership of the Beatles catalogue, said his prayers went to Jackson’s family and fans. “It’s so sad and shocking,” he said. “I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael. He was a massively talented boy-man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones.” In Ireland, where Jackson made his temporary home in a castle south of Dublin in 2007, people remembered him as a kind and loving man. Eugene Lambert, Ireland’s best-known puppeteer, recalled his son’s puppet performance at a birthday party for Jackson attended by the singer’s three children. “Michael Jackson and the kids seemed to enjoy the show equally,” he said. “My son sang happy birthday to Michael Jackson, who seemed genuinely touched by the attention. Michael Jackson rang me that night to thank me for the show. He said he hoped he’d be as happy at his work as I am at my age, and of course I’m 80.” Rocker Lenny Kravitz recalled working with Jackson in the studio on an unreleased track and finding the man far different from the eccentric recluse often portrayed in the media. “It was the most amazing experience I’ve had in the studio,” Kravitz said. “He was funny. Very funny and we laughed the whole time. I also saw what a beautiful father he was. He was a beautiful human being. If not for him, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. He gave me joy as a child and showed me the way to go.” Jackson’s death prompted broadcasters from Sydney to Seoul — where the news came early Friday — to interrupt morning programs, while fans remembered a “tortured genius” whose squeals and sliding moves captivated a generation and who sparked global trends in music, dance and fashion. Several world leaders weighed in. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called it “lamentable news,” though he criticized the media for giving it so much attention. Former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, who had met Jackson, said: “We lost a hero of the world.” In Romania, where a tumultuous Jackson concert in 1992 helped mark the country’s new freedoms after the fall of the Soviet bloc, singer Lucian Viziru said he was stunned by the tragedy. “I feel like crying,” he told the AP, rubbing his eyes. “I grew up with him, I learned his dances, his songs, everything. My first ever cassette was ’Thriller.”’ A condolence board went up in downtown Bucharest. Radio and TV stations played his music and broadcast clips from the concert. “My heart is heavy because my idol died,” said Byron Garcia, security consultant at a Philippine prison who organized the famous video of 1,500 inmates doing a synchronized dance to “Thriller.” The video has had 23.4 million hits on YouTube. Garcia said the inmates in Cebu will hold a tribute for Jackson on Saturday with their “Thriller” dance and a minute of prayer. The flamboyant former Philippine first lady, Imelda Marcos, who cheered Jackson’s acquittal on child molestation charges in 2005, said she cried on hearing the news. “Michael Jackson enriched our lives, made us happy,” she said. “The accusations, the persecution caused him so much financial and mental anguish. He was vindicated in court, but the battle took his life. There is probably a lesson here for all of us.” In Bogota, Colombia, a 24-year-old tattoo artist named Michael Tarquino said his parents named him after Jackson.

He recalled growing up with electricity rationing for hours at a time and waiting for the power to return.
“When the light came back on I would play my Michael Jackson LP, and I’d stand at the window and sing along,” he said. Japanese fans were always among Michael Jackson’s most passionate supporters, and news of his death came as a huge shock. Michiko Suzuki, a music critic who met Jackson several times in the1980s, said the country was likely to be mourning for some time. “Everyone was imitating his ’moonwalk’ when it was a hit. He was a true superstar,” she said. Michael Jackson also had a huge fan base in Seoul, South Korea, where his style and dance moves were widely emulated by Korean pop stars. “He is my master and the prime mover to make me dance,” pop star Rain told the South Korean sports and entertainment daily Ilgan Sports. “Even though he is dead, he is an eternal performer.” Source: msnbc.msn.com

Sam Dumped Lindsay Via Vicious Text Message

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson are kaput. Again. E! News says the inconstant squeezes are on the outs for the second time in two months, with Sam, 31, supposedly snuffing out their flickering flame on Monday night via a "Mean Girls"-style text message. "Go find someone else. You make me sick to my stomach," Lindsay Lohan allegedly wrote in the missive obtained by E!. "If you come anywhere near me or my house, I'll make you wish you hadn't. That's all I have to say. You're disgusting." The venomous text reportedly came after a "nasty argument" (as if there's any other kind with these two). Lindsay Lohan, 22, who just a few days ago was flashing a diamond ring following a London rendezvous with her capricious DJ inamorata of about two years, attempted to put a brave face on the drama. "I love being alone. Feels safe coz I can only trust myself ... ya, sad," she wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "But I'm cool with it." It's already been a busy week for the starlet, what with being linked to an investigation involving a $400,000 jewelry heist, posting a topless picture on Twitter out of sheer boredom and allegedly acting "extremely oddly and erratically" at a New York City club.

And it's that behavior that People magazine says led to her latest estrangement from Ronson. "Sam let Lindsay Lohan back into her life as a friend, but now even a friendship seems impossible," a source tells the mag. "No matter how many times she promises to change, Lindsay Lohan loses control and starts acting like a maniac." What's more, the mole insists, their together-time in the wake of their very public bust-up in April, when Lindsay Lohan cried she was "so alone" and "in absolute hell" in an Us Weekly cover story, wasn't romantic. "Lindsay Lohan is telling everyone that Sam dumped her again," says the insider, "but it makes no sense since they never got back together ... Sam is a nice person and wouldn't throw anyone out of her life, but it was no more than [friendship]." E! News also places some of the blame on Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan's former partner in cadaverous crime and currently a close pal of Ronson's. A source tells E! that the expectant mom of 17-month-old Harlow is so over Lindsay Lohan that she invited Ronson to a mutual pal's birthday shindig at the Bar Marmont in Los Angeles last week under strict orders to come without her sometime honey. "Nicole refuses even to be in the same room as Lindsay Lohan," purports the snitch. "Sam went to the party, and it really upset Lindsay Lohan." Lindsay Lohan alluded to the snub last week, writing, "How can u invite one of a couple? Like, really? And at Chateau, really? Like again, really?" But as a Lindsay Lohan source wisely observed to People at the time, "It's a cycle that can go on forever."

Britney Spear's New boyfriend Jason !!

Britney Spears appears to be giving her agent, Jason Trawick, more than his customary cut of her profits. TMZ and People are both confirming reports that he is, in fact, Britney's new boyfriend. Rumors first swirled that Britney Spears was dating Trawick back in March. The 37-year-old accompanied Britney Spears on a trip to Costa Rica and even visited her hometown in Louisiana, where he was spotted chauffeuring the pop star around in a golf cart and carrying her son, Jayden James.

Though sources close to the family denied the relationship at the time, Britney's "tight bond" with Trawick was said to be an open secret around the William Morris Agency.
Sources now admit that the pair are "definitely dating," and that Britney's father, Jamie Spears, approves of the relationship.

"Britney Spears dad loves [Jason]," says one insider. "He's the best things that's happened to her."
Is it just us, or does Britney Spears have a thing for men who explicitly profit off her image? Nah, that would be sort of messed up ...

Megan Fox isn't happy to be compared to Angelina Jolie!!!

Most stars would be happy to be compared to Angelina Jolie. Megan Fox isn't one of them. "It's a lack of creativity on the media's part," the Transformers star says in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly (on newsstands June 12). "Because I have tattoos and dark hair and I was in an action movie? That's as far as the similarities extend." Adds Fox, "I'm not the next anyone." The 23-year-old actress Megan Fox says she was joking when she once said she was afraid of the Changeling star -- admits that Megan Fox has no plans to get to know Jolie.

"Megan Fox always seems otherworldly in her power and her confidence," Fox says. "I'm sure she has no idea who I am. But if I were her, I'd be like, 'Who the f--- is this little bulls--- brat who was in Transformers that's going to be the next me?' I don't want to meet her. I'd be embarrassed."
Megan Fox even interjects when asked if she wanted to follow in Jolie's footsteps of starting out as a sex symbol before taking on serious roles. "Angelina Jolie was always a Method actress," Megan Fox says. "She'd been nominated for Golden Globes before she ever did Tomb Raider." Still, the star -- who admits "I'm clearly not ugly" -- isn't bothered by the fact that she's seen as a sex symbol. "I don't know why someone would complain about that," Megan Fox says. "That just means that the bar has been set pretty low. People don't expect me to do anything that's worth watching. So I can only be an overachiever. I think all women in Hollywood are known as sex symbols. That's what our purpose is in this business. You're merchandised, you're a product. You're sold and it's based on sex. But that's okay. I think women should be empowered by that, not degraded." In fact, she doesn't regret how Transformers made her "this new girl" in the industry.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, doesn't want to still be making robot movies five years from now, but when asked what the worst-case scenario would be, she says, "That I'd be on The Hills."

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt they are no longer together !!!

Hollywood's most enduring couple, Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt, have called it quits after six months of dating. If Paris Hilton and Doug can't make it work, what hope is there for the rest of us?

"In response to the inquiry on whether Paris Hilton has split up with Doug Reinhardt, yes, this is true they are no longer together. They remain friends and ask that you please respect their privacy," a rep for Hilton

Paris has been quoted saying Paris Hilton would marry Doug Reinhardt less than two months ago. It's as though she's sensationalizing her personal relationships to gain more publicity. Weird.

No response has come yet from the Doug Reinhardt camp. He's probably heart broken, but stiff upper lip, Doug Reinhardt. There are plenty of A-list, billionaire socialite princess fish in the sea.

Carrie Prejean rejected Playboy offer

Carrie Prejean has been stripped of her pageant crown for allegedly failing to fulfill her beauty queen duties, but the ousted Miss California says it's the Miss USA team that fell down on the job. According to statements from Carrie Prejean in an interview with TMZ.com Wednesday, in which Carrie Prejean said sge was "shocked" to learn she'd been "fired" by Donald Trump. "What's behind this I think is a political debate.

They don't agree with the stance that I took. Shanna is trying to bash me. They don't like me. From day one they wanted me out and they got what they wanted," Carrie Prejean said.
Trump maintains the cause was breach of contract. "I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization, and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in a statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen."

Carrie Prejean claimed that pageant exec Keith Lewis pushed her to take the $140,000 to pose in semi-nude photos for Playboy - an offer Carrie Prejean rejected. Lewis admits he presented her with a $140,000 deal from the skin mag but said he did that because she had insisted he tell about any and all promotion offers Prejean officials said Carrie Prejean has missed a slew of pageant-organized appearances and doesn't seek clearance before participating in unsanctioned activities. Not true, said a "shocked" Prejean, who hit back with explosive charges that the pageant wanted her to pose semi-nude in Playboy - an offer she nixed, TMZ.com reported on its web site.

Carrie Prejean dumps by Donald Trump as Miss California USA

Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, who stirred up a hornet's nest of controversy when Carrie Prejean said gays shouldn't be allowed to marry, got the word from pageant poobah Donald Trump on Wednesday: "You're fired."
Trump and other pageant leaders said Prejean was being sacked not because of her controversial remarks but because she hadn't been holding up her end of the agreement she signed when Carrie Prejean entered the pageant.
"This was a decision based solely on contract violations, including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization," the California pageant's executive director, Keith Lewis, said in a statement.
Lewis had complained at a news conference last month that Prejean was skipping Miss California USA events while speaking out against gay marriage at unsanctioned appearances.
After the complaints reached Trump, who owns Miss California USA's parent organization, the mogul decided to give her a second chance and keep her on. On Wednesday he changed his mind and sided with Lewis.

"I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California USA Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so," Trump said in a statement. "Unfortunately it just doesn't look like it is going to happen."
Carrie Prejean spokeswoman Melany Ethridge declined to comment, saying she hadn't been able to reach the former beauty queen since the announcement of her ouster.
Carrie Prejean told the television show Access Hollywood she would never have been let go from the pageant had she not replied the way she did to a judge's question about gay marriage.
"It's just because of my answer, I think," Prejean said Wednesday shortly after learning of Trump's decision. "None of this would be happening right now if I just said, 'Yeah, gays should get married.'"

She also denied being derelict in her post-pageant duties.
"I've tried to reach out to them and I've done several appearances and I'm going to be presenting at the Special Olympics this weekend as an honorary guest," Carrie Prejean told the TV show. "I mean, I've been cooperating with them. I don't see why this is happening."
